Privacy policy.

The short version.

• We never train on your essays.
• We retain submitted text for 30 days (for abuse-detection and rate-limiting), then delete.
• We don't sell your data and don't use it for advertising.
• You can request deletion at any time. We honor it within 30 days.

1. What we collect.

When you use the detector anonymously, we collect the submitted text (to score it), a hashed IP address (for rate-limiting and abuse prevention), and anonymous usage counters (word counts, timestamps, page viewed). With an account, we additionally collect an email address and any optional profile information you provide.

2. How we use it.

Your submitted text is used solely to produce the detection result you requested. We do not use it to train any model, do not share it with third parties except as described in section 4, and do not mine it for other purposes.

3. How long we keep it.

Submitted text: 30 days. Account metadata: until account deletion, plus up to 90 days in backups. Billing records: as required by tax law (typically 7 years). Security logs: 180 days.

4. Who we share with.

Only infrastructure subprocessors (listed on /trust-center) and, if required, law-enforcement with valid legal process. We publish an annual transparency report summarizing any law-enforcement requests.

5. Your rights.

Under GDPR (EU/UK) and CCPA (California), and on a best-effort basis for other jurisdictions: access, portability, correction, deletion, and opt-out of any non-essential processing. Email privacy@aiessaydetector.ai to exercise any right. We respond within 30 days.

6. International transfers.

EU user data is primarily stored in Cloudflare's EU region. US user data in the US region. Transfers happen only for security / abuse-detection metadata and are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses in our DPA.

7. Children.

The service is not directed to children under 13. If your school deploys the service for students under 13 (e.g., middle-school writing classes), it must execute a FERPA/COPPA-aware institutional agreement, contact us.

8. Changes.

Material changes to this policy are notified via email to account holders at least 30 days before taking effect. Non-material changes (phrasing, typos) may be made silently, the last-updated date on this page is authoritative.
