Why institutional buyers need more than a score.

Buying an AI detector at the institutional level isn't a product-fit decision, it's a procurement, infosec, and legal decision. We've been through that review with 340+ universities, K-12 districts, and academic publishers, and we've optimized the stack for it.

Our architecture keeps student essays inside your tenant. LMS integrations use a per-institution API tenant (not a shared pool), so data isolation is by design. We provide a DPA, a SOC 2 Type II report, pen-test summaries, and FERPA & GDPR addenda as standard, not as "enterprise upsells."

And because faculty adoption matters more than the contract, we include onboarding: department-level rollouts, office-hours for faculty, and a student-communications kit so rollout doesn't turn into a campus controversy.

What you get at the institutional tier.

SSO + SCIM provisioning

SAML 2.0 (Okta, Azure AD, Google Workspace) and SCIM for auto-provisioning. No one maintains a second password list.

LMS native plugins

Canvas (LTI 1.3), Blackboard, Moodle, D2L. Essays stream through our API but don't leave your institution's tenant.

Per-tenant isolation

Each institution gets its own API tenant. No shared inference, no shared storage. Data residency options for EU, US, UK, CA.

DPA + SOC 2 Type II

Executable DPA with standard contractual clauses. SOC 2 Type II report available under NDA. Annual third-party pen tests.

FERPA & GDPR

We sign FERPA School Official agreements in the U.S. and a GDPR Art. 28 data-processor agreement in the EU. Records-of-processing documentation provided.

White-glove rollout

Department-by-department onboarding, a student-communications kit, faculty office hours, and a designated customer-success manager for the first six months.

Typical rollout timeline.

  1. Week 0. Procurement kickoff.

DPA, SOC 2 review, pen-test sharing, security questionnaire, pricing alignment. We move fast here because we've done this many times.

  2. Week 2. IT provisioning.

SSO configuration, SCIM mapping, LMS plugin install in a staging environment, tenant-isolation verification.

  3. Week 4. Faculty pilot.

One department (typically English, History, or College Writing) runs the tool on a real assignment. We provide office hours to calibrate.

  4. Week 6. Student communication.

We help you draft the announcement. Transparency up-front is the single biggest lever for reducing cheating and for student acceptance.

  5. Week 8. Full deployment.

Campus-wide go-live. We run weekly adoption & accuracy reviews for the first three months and then monthly.

Frequently asked questions

Where are essays stored?
By default, essays are processed in-memory and never written to disk. Institutional accounts can optionally enable scan-history retention (default off), stored encrypted-at-rest in your chosen region (US, EU, UK, CA). Retention period is configurable per-institution; default 90 days.
Are essays used to train your models?
No. Institutional essays are never used for model training. We have a contractual commitment in the DPA to this effect. Our training corpus is a separate opted-in dataset of 2M student essays that we license directly from a consortium of cooperating institutions.
What's the SOC 2 scope?
SOC 2 Type II covering Security, Availability, Confidentiality, and Processing Integrity. Audit period is a trailing 12 months, refreshed annually by an AICPA-credentialed CPA firm (we can share the firm name under NDA). The report is available to institutional prospects under a standard NDA.
Do you support our LMS of choice?
Native plugins for Canvas (LTI 1.3), Blackboard Ultra & Original, Moodle 4.x, and D2L Brightspace. For others (Sakai, Open edX, Schoology), we have an API-based integration pattern that's typically 2-3 days of plugin dev work. Our team has supported custom LMS integrations for 40+ institutions.
What are the pricing tiers?
Per-seat annual, with volume discounts. For a mid-sized university (10-30k students) we typically come in at $2-4 per student per year depending on feature set. Custom pricing for K-12 districts and publishers. Request a demo to get specific numbers for your institution.
Can we self-host?
We do not offer fully self-hosted deployment (the classifier training + update cadence depends on our central infra). However, we offer a VPC-peered tenant option for institutions with stricter data-residency needs, essays stay inside a dedicated VPC in your chosen cloud region. Available on the Enterprise tier.
